Job Description

The Senior Economist will manage a portfolio of business information consulting projects as well as contribute to the overall analytical function of the economic and market research arm of NEMA, a major manufacturing trade association.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage new and ongoing quantitative projects and prepare and present findings to member clients
  • Undertake econometric modeling and economic research of the electroindustry and develop and maintain forecast models for electroindustry product sectors
  • Assist in production of monthly economic and industry outlook using vendor supplied national economic model
  • Contribute analytical content to the association’s magazine, blog, and other channels of distribution as assigned
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of economic and electroindustry indicators
  • Provide economic/market data information to NEMA Members

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Quantitative orientation with expertise in econometrics and in specialized software applications such as EViews
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • Familiarity with sources of economic data

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate degree in economics.
  • 5-8 years experience in applied economic analysis; experience in a consulting, trade association, or corporate environment a plus.
