Private Sector Real Estate Economist
Job Description
PPR, a wholly owned subsidiary of CoStar, is currently expanding it’s team of Real Estate Economists. The Real Estate Economist is responsible for researching, analyzing, and communicating, both verbally and in writing, PPR’s views on commercial and multifamily real estate markets in a specified number of U.S. metropolitan areas, and their submarkets and micro-markets. The economist must develop an understanding of office, retail, warehouse, multifamily, and hotel markets, how the local and national economies affect them, and their place within their micro-market, metro, region, and nation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for writing clear, concise, and insightful commentary that provide meaningful and actionable analysis for clients.
- Communicate market intelligence and opinions to clients verbally.
- May give formal market presentations or prepare notes for Strategists or Senior Economists to use in market presentations.
- Perform qualitative market research on specific metropolitan areas.
- Stay informed on market events impacting commercial real estate and the local economy.
- Analyze data from a wide variety of available sources.
- Maintain a current, detailed list of construction projects.
- Add and appropriately code relevant articles to the database.
- Build relationships with clients, industry experts, and others within the organization to help inform opinions about and deepen knowledge of markets.
- Regularly discuss market conditions and data with partners.
- Provide inputs for supply, vacancy, and rent for assigned markets.
- Review forecasts and give feedback to the forecasters.
- A Real Estate Economist is required to write thought-provoking, analytical content for PPR’s written products.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of real estate market analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Self-motivated and committed to learning and improving.
- Excellent time management skills that facilitate working in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Superb analytic skills and intellectual curiosity that will promote strong market analysis.
- Ability to clearly and confidently write and present ideas.
- Follow-through and exceptional attention to detail is essential.
- Adept at MS Office suite, particularly Excel and Access.
