Economist, Zero Waste Scotland
Location: Stirling
Salary: £37k to £40k + benefits, depending on depth and breadth of experience of the successful candidate
Responsible to: Economist, Market Economics
Zero Waste Scotland is the programme created to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision of a zero waste society in Scotland, where the value of material resources is maximised. Zero Waste Scotland is managed by the UK-wide organisation WRAP, which has pioneered work to support markets for recycled materials and driven the development of resource efficient products and services.
Our work includes research and market analysis to help build our understanding of the economic benefits of resource efficiency – waste minimisation, reuse and recycling.
We are seeking a highly literate and numerate professional economist who is able to demonstrate evidence of experience in macro- and micro- economic analysis, in particular economic cost-benefit analysis of policy options, evaluation of environmental impacts and analysis of markets with sparse/poor quality data.
The post offers the opportunity to help support a wide-ranging and original programme of economic analysis contributing to the resource efficiency and climate change agendas in Scotland?
Applicants should have a proven track record as a professional economist and preferably a post graduate qualification in Economics. Experience of commissioning and managing external contractors is also necessary. Applications from candidates from any field of economics are welcome.
