Chief Economist The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is conducting a search for a Chief Economist. The position requires someone who can provide strong intellectual and strategic leadership on regional economic issues of significance to the Port Authority. The Chief Economist is responsible for developing and managing the agencys economic research and analysis agenda and ensuring that the agency's investment and policy choices are guided by sound economic analysis. The Port Authority is a bistate public agency responsible for many of the busiest and most important trade and transportation links in one of the largest and most diversified metropolitan areas in the United States. Port Authoritys facilities include airports, marine ports, bridges and tunnels; bus terminals, mass transit systems, and selected real estate developments. We are looking for candidates with a postgraduate
degree (Ph.D. preferred) and a successful track record --
a minimum of 15 years -- in applied economics; a strong
quantitative background in economic data analysis and
forecasting of the regional, national and global economic
trends that influence the Port Authority business;
expertise and first-hand experience in cost-benefit
analysis and application; economic impact analysis
methodologies, econometric modeling; and extensive
knowledge of the New York-New Jersey metropolitan
regions economy and demographics. The candidates
should also possess superior communication and
presentation skills, excellent managerial skills, and the
ability to encourage innovation and knowledge sharing in
